Prepare to embark on a culinary journey with the extraordinary Chef Alex Abate, whose love for exquisite Italian flavours began in the heart of a traditional household brimming with the tantalizing scents of fresh tomato sauce and succulent braised veal. Guided by a passion for crafting remarkable dishes, Chef Alex honed his skills through an array of culinary techniques, igniting a profound devotion to the art of cooking. Eager to enrich his knowledge, he pursued formal training at Humber College’s esteemed Culinary Degree program. Swiftly achieving his Red Seal Certificate, Chef Alex delved into the dynamic realm of fine dining by apprenticing at a prestigious restaurant nestled in the north of Toronto. Immersed in an environment of culinary excellence, Chef Alex absorbed the wisdom of seasoned mentors, mastering his craft and swiftly ascending the ranks of the kitchen brigade. Remarkably, by the youthful age of 23, he assumed the esteemed role of Executive Chef at the iconic Marlowe Restaurant and Wine Bar. Undoubtedly, his remarkable talents, unwavering leadership, and unbounded creativity swiftly propelled him to establish his reputation as a culinary virtuoso. Chef Alex’s fervent aspiration is to infuse Lume Kitchen and Lounge with a fresh, seasonal menu that tantalizes the senses, ensuring an unforgettable and gratifying experience for every cherished guest. Our Story
Lume Kitchen and Lounge, inspired by the beautiful shores of Miami’s South Beach, launched its grand opening in 2022. Lume is derived from the Latin word lūmen, which translates to “light”. The restaurant extends this same “light” to guests by providing a welcoming place, where they are guaranteed to have a good time. With one of Toronto’s most remarkable menus, Lume Kitchen and Lounge serves the South Etobicoke community of Humber Bay Shores. This local restaurant is a refined destination, offering fresh American Fare, in a stylish and idyllic setting. Providing a seasonal menu, Lume Kitchen and Lounge ensures to highlight the local food flavours’ of the city.
